| Don't sweat it. I just got XP pro. I'm telling you square that at the price it's a steal. The forum is amazing. I have posted half a dozen questions, just getting used to the software, all answered within minutes. No joke, the forum they have set up has really raised the bar as far as customer service and tech support goes, it's very impressive. What more can I say, It's like having Hu at your elbow. I know that sounds like something you should see your doctor about, but Hu is the guy that answers all of the tough Onecnc questions on this site (and the Onecnc forum). I'm not sure how much longer they will put up with me though. Other guys write" how do I z level rough over an SMT solid wireframe, NURBS...blah ..blahh" I'm asking about cutter compensation and where the snap grid is, lol. Dave |

An open forum has been discussed but it seems best to keep it among the owners of OneCNC for various reasons. Although several of the users frequent this site and are more then willing to offer advice or answer questions. I will most definitely agree with nervis1, actually OneCNC offers the best support one can imagine. Including other knowledgeable people like Ward (wms) and from reading others post there are other real sharp cookies there as well. Unfortunately I am not one of them . On a scale of 1 to 10 they get a 10. You can also expect the company’s involvement the minute they see it necessary. From beginner to expert if you got a problem there is support.Ken |

| Hi Raskins Can we really trust me? I dunno ![]() It depends somewhat on the person. No matter what, I guess if you are a greenhorn, it is going to take a while to get you up to speed, no matter where or what you begin with. Are you already an experienced manual machinist? This would be a great asset prior to using any cadcam system. I assume that you are wanting to output gcode for cnc machinery. If not, then you don't need a CAM, not yet at least. If you know what you want your machine to do, but just need a program to translate your models into action, then OneCNC is a good choice. It gives you oodles of options in automatic toolpath generation, but without swamping you with tons of settings. There are settings to be made of course, that is inevitable. But, I have a firm belief that anyone who already runs a lathe or a mill, would find OneCNC as comfortable as......anything. This is because it is set up the way a machinist thinks about working, not the way an engineer would think about it, if engineers think about machining

| Hi Raskins, I was in the same shoes as you, I knew what CNC/CAD/CAM stood for but had zero experience in the operation of them. I did have some basic machining experience on a lathe and mill. I purchased OneCNC because I did want a program that offered both CAD and CAM as I did not want to learn two different programs layouts and methods. The argument of which is the best CAD/CAM will forever be unanswered, what one becomes proficient with always is the best. I did try several unnamed demo's (all CAD/CAM) and they were either to user unfriendly or way too expensive. I chose OneCNC for several reasons 1: because I did get off to a quick (albeit simple)start with it. 2: I was promised good support. Which I knew from experience may or may not be a reality. With OneCNC it is an absolute truth, they or someone will take care of your questions or problems. 3: I really liked the idea of lifetime free updates with never any monthly or yearly support expenses. I believe you would be hard pressed to find any CAD/CAM programs comparable to the broad power of OneCNC at any where near it's price. |

| calkai1, They do not have a single price because they offer various versions depending on a particular budget and requirements. They will be shipping on 05/31/04 the new XR series, this is as understand it a bit of a pre-release to OneCNC owners who wish to upgrade (As I understand it, could be wrong on the pre-release thing) . They will still be supporting the earlier Mill and XP version. Call Leo at 1-877-626-1262 for the the latest pricing.
