    Extracing Geometry from .stl file

i imported an .stl file i made in Pro/e and im trying to make a toolpath. i have the evaluation version of onecnc-xr2. the online tutorials dont help much. i think what i want do is extract geometry from the model so i can select the circles and edges to make a toolpath for (if i understand all this correctly)

There are no circles or edges to extract from an .stl file. It's made up of triangular faces. You'll need to try another format, perhaps IGES?

As Ger21 mensioned..no edges to extract in a STL file..

But you can also create a surface under the model and use the SMT tool paths to machine the part..

Just make the surface bigger that the model..

Surfaces>Rectangle>Sketch..will work just fine for this..then move the new surface down in Z with the translate function so it is below the STL model..

But a better option is to get an IGES or STEP file, as Ger21 mensioned..then yes you can extract an edge and use Stock tool paths or SMT directly on the model...
