next question :-) problem transfering file fron1cnc to VMC

I've gone over and over every thing for hours. I can not transfer a file from my PC to my haas vf0. My PC says file has been sent the VMC is waiting to receive and gets nothing. I've set up both the machine and 1 cnc from what info I have found in the haas Manual and 1 cnc info in help section. Anyone have any ideas what im missing. Im totally new to all this. thanks

Geof will become famous soon enough

If the Haas just sits and waits without any error message this suggests it is not seeing the PC. Have you tried doing a transfer the other way from the Haas to the PC. If this works then you do have connection and it is something in your settings that has to be corrected. If you cannot transfer either way it is probably lack of correct connection. The first simple check is that you have the cable on the top connector on the Haas? Second simple check are you using the correct cable? According to the Haas manual; "The RS-232 connector is a DB-25 and is wired as a DTE. This means we send data on the TXD wire and receive data on the RXD wire."

Cable

Turbo,

If are using the Haas post it is properly configured with the necessary header and footer data for proper RS232 communications.

The first thing that I would verify is the pin out configuration on the cable.

If the PC and control are matched for baud, parity, etc then the obvious suspect is the cable. Since you claim to be new at this, I bet you bought an off the shelf serial cable.

As for you not being able to log into the OneCNC User Forum, email support@onecnc.com your details and we'll help you sort it out.

If you have further trouble you can contact support on Monday, or PM me.

one cnc I had a computer shop make me a rs232 cable. I gave him the info from one cnc and haas manual and he used that info for the cable. pin 1-1
pin 2-3
pin 3-2 and pin 7-7 is what he used on cat 5 wire.I tested the wire and the pins seemed wired correct.

I tried to send a file from VMC to PC and didnt see any thing on PC end.

I did the settings from what the haas manual reads. Not sure if i missed something so the haas is set up correct to recieve the file.

thanks for all the input.

That is your problem; you need to use the serial port on your PC, the RS-232 port.
