With the solid modelling capabilities available in Onecnc, my little company now looks more competant than it ever did before. I don't have a seat of Solidworks, like lots of you other guys.
I've got a customer who is impressed enough with the 3d files that I return to him, that he is considering allowing me to design his molding dies, instead of employing the services of an engineering firm. There is going to be some challenging splined surfaces to make, but I'm looking forward to it.
Of course, I get to cut the parts, too, but that's a piece of cake compared to making the models.

Peter, this stuff looks better than good! Can you and Hu tell me more? How does OneCNC do the modelling? Does it do the design of runners, cooling pockets, hot cores etc for you?
I'm new to injection moulds. The learning curve is steep and would like as much help i can get......

I designed this tool in onecnc using solid moddeling
i used core and cavity options within onecnc
to produce tool
but remember i design tools for a living
runners etc i did from my skills
there are no facilities in onecnc for hot tip and runners
though you can produce them from experiance
but don't underestimate onecnc most of the tools are there
and you never know with onecnc
with its split lines which is available with expert
it won't belong before the developers bring the tools you where
asking about into onecnc

Do you know of software that can do all these type of design calculations? I know it would be very expensive.
I saw a package for sheet metal that could do all the calculations and do developments! It was expensive, but it sidestepped the human error factor.

I know of different software will do different things
cooling systems, core and cav, electrode manufacture,bolster sets
mold flow,etc but if you purchased everything you will have to visit
your bank manager,let me give you some advise most suppliers of
items required for mould tool manufacture,will supply you with iges or dxf on cd for there products,
the best way would be importation of there iges files and lay up your tool from them you should be able to produce a ga of a tool
within a couple of working days,
say you want a bolster set 296x296
you would import that set and work your splits from there

Peter, i'm interested in the subjects of mold flow & cooling systems. It's these areas where i have lots to learn....
