Talking OneCNC xp

Just got my copy of OneCNC XP MILL EXPERT today.
WOW!!
I know OneCNC MILL PRO is great (I use it almost everyday)but wait til you see what they came up with this time.
This BLOWS me away.
REALLY neat stuff:
Rest machining.
Fully customizable tool bars.
Parting line stuff (for you mold guys).
Really Customizable machine posts.
Personal setting for muliple users.
HUGE help file with real stuff in it.
Job sheets with run time,operations,Date codes, a small rendering of the part, right on the sheet (for us folks who need pictures).
You can reorder the operations with full associativity.
WOW, this will take my machining to a new(higher) level.
I"ll keep you posted as I wrap my feeble little mind around all this.

Mark,
I really don't know what the price is for XP is at this time.
I'm sure there will be an upgade price also.
I would suggest you give OneCNC a call to find out all the details. They are really good folks to talk to.

HU, (what more can I say)

Smile OneCNCXP

Guys,
I'm still getting my feet wet with this new version.
Unfortunately I was given a bid package with 58 different parts(all complex solid models from UG 18), to try and get together last week(I hate bids but that's are how we all make the rent).
So I haven't had much time to play around with the new XP.
It looks very interesting and lots of new stuff.
The interface is a little different, but nothing overwelming.
The Rest Robot has peaked my interest.
I'll try to keep you up to date as things go forward.

Hi WMS, and other interested persons,

I was studying the new "layer controls" in OnecncXP. Looks exactly like what I was dreaming about: now all I have to do is come up with what would make a good "default layers and layer attributes" template. I'm like a kid at Christmas time: too many toys and I can't concentrate on any one of them

Have you concocted any such layering scheme yet? I'd like to hear a few ideas kicked around by people who are more experienced at using this type of feature.

Cool Layers layout

HU,
I use things like:
POINTS= YELLOW (chose your own colors here)
CONSTRUCTION= (color)
SURFACES= (color)
HOLES=(you know the drill)
BONDARYS=
DIMENSIONS=
TEXT TO INGRAVE=
STOCK=
and on and on and on.

Really the choises are endless and depend on how you "operate".
Fun stuff and how about the ability to customize the toolbar any way you want to.
If you want 5 copies of SAVE or TRIM 2, you can have them.
Heck put a copy of TRIM 2 on every tool bar.

I also get a kick out of the way the zoom and rotate function works in Onecnc XP. Its nice and handy on the middle mouse button and the "flying camera" feel as the view repositions itself makes me want to pan and zoom more than ever before

I'm glad I upgraded my video card lately so I can run two monitors side by side. What with all the windows a guy wants to have open (for convenience), it is well worth the $$ spent. I've got the NC manager and the NC editor sharing one monitor, and the CAD window on the other.

Your use of two monitors has really tweaked my interest HU, what video card did you settle on? and in the CAD mod what video resolution do you prefer?

Just ordered oneCNCXP and very much looking forward to learning it.

Thanks
Ken

Thanks WMS,

Just received my oneCNCXP today and was looking forward to playing with it this week end but I never got my license key, they said it would be Monday before they got any emails from Australia with them........not exactly life changing but a little annoying as I paid $35 to get it FedEX'd next day. Also received no manuals, from what I understand this version is quite new so that is understandable. I did get a hat !!, a dongle and a CD.

Making any progress on your's? and did you have any experience with the earlier versions of Mill Professional?

Ken
