    need help getting onecnc

sorry about name its a bit of a boast because i am no way near an expert or master !
anyway im new to cad programs if you exclude goolglesketchup which is rubbish, i am looking to get onecnc free to use as practise because i go to fareham collage and that's what they use there as their cad program. so i would like to get the modeler, it has to be a version which is capable of a 5 axis cnc machine. if not i would like to use a simallar program to that. so if any one can help me i would be greatfull of their help. thanks ><)))>

Aint going to happen mate, I have been searching myself but no training softwre about unless you consider V10 which I have seen on torrents which is a pile of poo. Consider Gibbs Cam which I learned on and actually enjoyed. I am currently using Onecnc for one week so far and I am not impressed with how long winded it is, not very clear, wont do this, wont do that and the Posts aint great eiher considering I have the correct posts for the 5 machines I programme it struggles like a good en on Siemens controls

A OneCNC user of 5 years would say of GibbsCam after one weeks use

If the company you currently work for has already been using OneCNC then they would already have the posts setup correctly

Have you actually spent a week on Gibbs Cam Phil? The first week of using any software is the best indication of ease of use. Onecnc is just as capable of doing anything Gibbs Cam, Delcam etc etc can do and I dont dispute that but the learning curve and time taken to learn a piece of software is very important. The only reason the company I work at use Onecnc is because its cheap and thats the only reason. I have been for 5 interviews over the last month and all the companies use Gibbs Cam or Delcam does that not tell you something too. As for the posts they should have that down to a T before even selling software, to put it bluntly they are crap, no doubt I`ll have to waste a load of my time getting them to sort that out too. And the only time I can practice on the software is in company time because they have no training software which cost the company I work for even more non productive time and money.

The guy trainning me on it isnt really that good using it, he tells me that say I want to rough a profile
of a part the only ways I can leave metal on for finishing is to either (A) Over Comp the tool in the machine or (B) Create a offset profile allowing for say .3mm for finishing. Is this right ???????

I don't think it's the software that's crap maybe some of the users, oh and why wasn't that Siemens post working before you got there ?

Thats big of you phil, your not winning the argument so you have to move to a more personal level. As for the Siemens post not working before I got there I can only guess they were only working with what they were given from Onecnc. The company have not been in the cnc market that long. My job is to produce the programmes and speed things up and the biggest issue I have encountered so far in my view is the software being used so thats all I can go on. I have every intention of rectifying the problem through, first I will take the problems to the local software agent to see what can be improved on.

If you have nothing constructive to actually say Phil nothing at all would be of more use.

Well actually you are the one starting with the insults against the software.

Please take a look at the picture is that hard to do/figure out ?

How is it done in Gibbscam does it read your mind via the mouse about how much to leave for a finish pass ?

Sorry but you come across as a troll

Criticizing a piece of software isn`t quite the same as making personal insults, you obviously don`t have the brain power to distinguish between the two and or work for Onecnc. Another useless reply from M250cnc. Good day to you Phil and maybe try and think before opening your mouth.

    OK I've had a think.

I'm sorry if i offended you, i was of course talking about the person training you, who you described as not being very good.

You are probably right about me not having the brain power to distinguish between the two. But i can allow for a finishing allowance in OneCNC

You are wrong about me working for OneCNC but i am open to offers.

I gave an example of how easy OneCNC was but you have not offered any evidence of how Gibbscam is so much easier.

This is my last post on this thread.

    Bye
    Phil
