    Onecnc and 5 axis

Well we just got our new Haas vf 5/40 5axis machine today and are now waiting for the 5 axis software from Onecnc.

Anyone else got their 5 axis software yet from Onecnc?

We have the OneCNC 3 axis and have some jobs already programmed using 5 axis position using that software but cant wait to get the 5 axis into action. The verification will certainly make it better. We had a good go the software at Westec and notice they have a link to a video on their site.

I notice the link is not working on the cnczone here it says it's moved but the link is dead.

let us know how well OneCNC handles simultaneous 5 axis moves. I use EdgeCam, and it is great for 5 axis positioning, but simultaneous surfacing is a major pain. I also had to buy an expensive 5-axis post processor. Does OneCNC come with a 5 axis post?

    cheers.

Sure it has a 5 axis post. Its already configured for our Haas but it is a gui post anyhow so it is so easy to adjust which we have already done with the 3 axis. Hey since we got it we haven't looked back the verification is really good and the machining strategies are excellent. We nearly bought vericut because we had so much problems with another cam we used whereas Onecnc verification is faster and better anyhow.

    I'm waiting just like you.

Mastercam should license their verification from Onecnc, hell they all should. It's the most reliable, easy to use verify I've ever seen (Ive seen a bunch of them too). Vericut.....I just laughed when they told me the price for multi axis verify....over 30k.

I am programming a 5 axis Deckel Maho, DMU125. It has a 5-axis table, and horizontal/vertical head. When the head is in the vertical position, all axis are normal, X,Y,Z. But when the head is in the horizontal position, the axis don't change, meaning the Y and Z axis are swapped, ie, you would drill a hole with a Y axis move, and G02/G03 moves are with X-Z axis's.

To make matters worse, when the head goes horizontal, you have to somehow let your cam system know your tool is now layed over at 90 degrees. Its like indexing your 5th axis 90 degrees, but you want your G-code to still say your at 0 degrees.

Do you know if OneCNC supports horizontal/vertical heads on a 5 axis mill?

Good question. I think you should give them a call and find out, the software has not been released yet, so there is no user base yet to try it out.

On their site they have a vid that comments that the software was designed with trunion table type machines in mind. However Onecnc's history has proven, and I suspect that the software is flexable enough that it will work with your machine.
