Question OKUMA HORIZONTAL W/ FANUC OSP 5000M

I am just wondering if there is anyone on that might be able to help me.I got a horizontal machining center and am trying to start machining with it. Everything is powered up and running. I am not getting any errors. I am sure I have to home the machine but it does not tell me how in any of my manuals. I have a couple other questions as well. If anyone knows somthing about these I would really appreciate the help!

    Thanks,

    Kevin

??? Fanuc OSP ....Which one ?
( never heard of one )

Okuma OSP 5000M.. is a 5000 series controller for M=milling

it has a closed loop co-ordinate scales on it's axes.
This enables the machine to be turned on... and cycle start---you are off and running cutting parts. it knows where it is at all times. If there happens to be a discrepency, it throws up an A level alarm ( nothing moves-all stop )

PS. you should at least warm up your spindle and bearings. Plus exercise the axis to spread lub, before hitting the GO button to extend the life of the spindle ( lots of $$$$ to do the bearings )

You may have a *.LIB and possibly a "WARM.MIN" file in the control, read them. The LIB file is a library of macros to aide you ( don't sweat if you don't have one ). The warm-up file is exactly that , if you have a faster spec. spindle, it does require a gradual warming up.

If you more info to come your way.
give us a bit more info on it.
    ie
    model :????
    year :???? ( not really needed )
    control: OSP-5000M
    pallets:????

    further info Horizonal MA40

    PPS...Welcome to da forum

Most likely, machine is "home" already. It's Okuma. Read carefully Superman's post and go on.
You can switch off Okuma in the middle of work and after powering up You continue forward, no "homing" as usuall Heidenhein systems.
