Replacement Window for Okuma Cadet Lathe

    Hello,
I have an older Okuma Cadet CNC Lathe (LNC-8) that I bought new in 1997. Over the years the window has deteriorated. I called Gosiger who is our local Okuma Distributor. The price for a new window is $467 plus another $51 for the rubber seal. Does anyone have any information on the specification for this type of window so that I can source it locally at a better price.

    Thanks for any help.

    Scott

get some 5/16 or 3/8 Lexan and cut it on a milling or a router

for the rubber , we buy a 100ft roll in a farm supply (for tractors windows) it's exactly the same as okuma for a fraction of the price (50$ for the roll i think)

and add a 1/16 S.Steel sheet in front of the jaw , this prevent excessive wear due to the chip that fly directly on the lexan

I broke the glass on my lathe the manufacterer wanted $600 to replace it . I called http://www.calglassbending.com/

They made me a new one,a piece of lexan laminated between 2 sheets of tempered safety glass cost $137.

    Thumbs up

Word to the wise, the Okuma glass is also a laminate of lexan on one side and glass on the other, so be careful if you order it from them. I've seen them put in inside out and you can't see through them in about 2 weeks. I think now they use a sticker to let you know the correct direction.

I too have used the local glass guy to make the laminate for me for about 150.

sometimes you can re-use the seal, but it may need some trimming if your coolant has "expanded" it.
