2537 file read error 1

i send the file to my osp5020m control and the file shows up on the main program list, but once i press write "2537 file record error 1" comes up.. i thought maybe it was the way the program was written but now i am thinking it is a communication problem... any ideas?

If the file show up, then the communication is most likely OK, but you have transmitted some "illegal codes" or are missing the M2 or M30 in the file. You can only use the basic ASCII character set which means only CAPS characters even in comments, and a very limited amount of other charaters. Scan carefully or try a simple 1 line program - first out, then back in to the control to ensure communication is working.

You have garbage received together with part program. If You can open it for editing, maybe You will find.

so u guys think that it is a few bad codes in the program and not communication? the file name does show up on the OSP and there are no errors during the transfer. its just when i press write in the auto mode i get that 2537 file record error 1"

send this file to PC via serial interface. Open in notepad, look if all spaces and line breaks are correct. send it back to OSP. That way You'll geti rid of non displayed garbage, which appears as spaces often. If You will set serial (temporarily) parameters for not storing special code, it would be great. You can set to alarm special code also.
There is another possibility. OSP doesn't needs spaces in text. So, You can filter all spaces and null characters while transfering or editing.
