Hello, I was wondering if anyone has used a variable driven program to broach keyways on a lathe. i would like to broach a keyway in a bore, but programming the turret moves would be long hand written. I would like to learn more about using a repeat function or do while loop routine. The broach would move up in X step by .001" and repeat same X and Z moves until the depth of the keyway was attained. has anyone used a program format like this? Thanks in advance, Greg. |

Try this... your startup codes/tool changes etc... blah, blah VC100 = 0 (first X position) VC101 = VC100 NLOOP IF [VC100 GT 0.2] NEND (enter your last X position here) G0 Z0.1 X=VC100 (moves to start pos) G1 Z-1. F?? (feeds in Z) G0 X=VC101 ( retracts X to start pos) G0 Z0.1 (rapids out in Z) VC100 = VC100 + 0.001 (adds .001 to last X position) GOTO NLOOP (returns to start of loop) NEND (if argument in NLOOP line is true, then jump to here) blah, blah carry on with rest of program. Hope this helps Last edited by ChattaMan; 11-07-2008 at 10:21 AM. Reason: typo |
