    software for a multus

I am not sure if this is the best forum to start this thread, but I figured since the machine in question was an okuma I might get to somebody who has experience with this. my question is does anybody have any experience with MTM cam software? my shop is in the market for some new software and am curious if anybody has any (good) first hand experience. we currently have a several year old version of gibbs 2 1/2D and a recent version of bobcad. none of us are proficient with either one(ex-employees used gibbs) so learning an new program would not be an issue. currently we are using autocad and our fingers to program and would like to enter the modern era, and I am thinking about basing the decision around who supports MTM machines well. Thanks in advance.

We have to MTM machines (plus 20 other CNC's) and i use Gibbs and am very happy with it. I tried MasterCam, but I liked the Gibbs better.

In my experience it seems that whatever program you are used too running is the one you like best. also like most anything it seems that there are parts of each program that excel at one thing over every other program out there. we are just trying to find something that covers everything pretty well and since the multus is the most complex machine I am thinking if a software can cover that it should cover everything else pretty well. Am I out in left field or on the right track?? we have a pro-E web-cast on Fri to check them out. Thanks again.

I am pro Mastercam as I have used it since version 5. X2 does everything i could ask for but I think if the Multus had more than 1 turret it would struggle to handle it. I have heard threw the grapevine that mastercam is going to make a huge leap forward with there next release. I think if I was in the market for something new Espri would be the first call I would make I have a customer that has switched to it from Gibbs and they are very happy

I have heard about esprit many times that it is good for the MTM machines. they are someone we are looking at, just haven't found out a lot about them yet. Thanks for the input.

wow! we got a reply from esprit today. they are incredibly pricey....$30,000! I am not sure how I can justify that kind of money for software to my boss no matter how good they are, but we are getting the info anyway just to check it out. we have a student version of edgecam and have a 30 day trial of PRO-E coming. guess we will have to see.
