    Default Alarm A 119 "Chuck Open" LB15

    Hello,
We are using a LB15 lathe an receiving an alarm code, Alarm A 119 "Chuck Open".When this happens, the chuck is closed and the indicator light "Chuck Closed" is lit.
It usually occurs at the beginning of an operation, manual or automatic. What could cause this?

Hi kaz. I'd made sure that you're ID/OD clamping selection is correct. If you're good there, double check and make sure that your chuck closed prox is on and the chuck open prox is off. Also, if you have a pressure switch in line for clamping force make sure it is made too.

There are two sensors on back end spindle that check clamped and unclamped. When clamped both sensors should be lit. When unclamped only one will be lit.If both are lit when the program reads m11(unclamp code)it wil stop there. These sensors are pretty sensitive. So if they are on the edge of reading not reading any vibration could shut one off and give chuck unclamped alarm. The clamp light on the control panel will still be lit. Hope this helps you.

Rotate the spindle by hand and make sure that the prox switches remain in their current state. Sometimes runout will cause a temporary fault when rotating.

    Best regards,

Experience is what you get just after you needed it.
