    New Machine

    Hello
    I need your help looking for new cnc lathe i found 2 one is 2012 new Johnford SL-500 and 2nd is Okuma 2006 Captain L-470/1250 can you tell me with one to go with? They are about same price

    Since they are about the same price, that should tell you a lot about the quality and features. What it won't tell you is the wear and tear on the older machine. Have it inspected and tested by a qualified machine mechanic.

    the Captain looks like an OK machine. I was relatively impressed by it for a standard 2-axis lathe. Although I think I was more interested in the robot than the lathe

    What is your budget and preferred control type and do you need C/Y also? There's are thousands of machines that are equivalent to the two you picked.

    Our Captain 470 has been good. Just a plain Jane lathe, but reliable for sure. At 100K, you should have plenty of options.
