    4th axis interface questions

    Hello,

I just purchases a new used MCV4020 w/ OSPU10M control, it has OEM installed 4th axis interface.

Wanted to know how do I know what indexers will hook up directly. If I purchase a unit, will I need any installation from the indexer manufacturer?
I am looking at Nikken, Haas, or Kitagawa...

    Thanks!

Doubt VERY much a HAAS one can be fitted, the other ones maybe if ordered for an Okuma. Different encoders/motors than std machines. They will want a copy of your electrical prints to build to spec. Should then be pretty much plug and play with a couple parameter changes.

The HAAS tables typically are run via READ/WRITE/GET/PUT on the Okuma, and the Nikken and Kitagawa typically have Okuma motors and encoders. You will need Okuma software (and possiblely a different drive unit) to support, since the software sets the gear ratio and power to the drive.
