    Here's a couple of alarms for future reference (I've just had both)

    1049-40 Alarm-A VAC Inverter Bridge Short Circuit SPDL
    This means the VAC unit for the spindle drive is bad. Change (or repair) the VAC unit.

    1048-40 Alarm-A VAC Motor Cable Overcurrent SPDL
    Really nasty one. This means the spindle motor is bad/burned-out/short-circuited.
    To repair this requires removal of the entire spindle (because it's a direct drive motor and the winding is around the spindle) and then re-winding the motor to factory specifications. A big expensive job.

    If Vac inverter bridge is shorted, regardless of the alarm, you will want to meg the motor and cables before you install the replacement VAC unit (and check continuity as well). If you have a dual winding contactor selector setup, make sure you check all the leads going out to the motor (there will be a total of six);

    I don't need to check anything because Okuma is doing the repair. The entire motor was replaced because it was fried.

    I was just clarifying to anyone reading this that the inverter bridge short is a condition that always requires checking the motor and cables (whether you do it or a service tech, or anyone else for that matter). Similar to the IOCS/IOCM (OCS/OCM) faults on the BDU/BLD/BLIID drives. One refers to over current in the servo drive, one refers to over current in the motor. In either case, the motor and cables need to be checked.
