    M Tool Spinning Backwards in G183 Drilling Cycle

    Hi
    Does anyone have a solution to my problem on a LU15-MW with 7000 controller?

    When using live tooling and the G183 pecking cycle on the sub spindle tne spindle starts the correct way when commanded to, then as it reads the cycle line it stops,reverses and it would try to drill the hole with the m-tool running backwards.

    I use this cycle every day on the main spindle with no worries but on the sub-spindle it is not doing what i want.
    Can anyone please help with this one as i have not found anything in the books about this.

    Thanks
    Anyfish

    look through the parameter screens on the machine.
    there is a page called TURRET PARAMETER BIT.
    switch to left chuck and take a pic of it.
    switch to right chuck and take a pic of it.

    post the pics here along with the TOOL # you are using
    and I'll tell you if any of them need to be changed.

    Fordav11 is on the right track. There is a parameter bit for M-spindle rotation reverse that needs to be changed.

    The parameter can be confusing. Be sure that you look closely since the screens will change when the spindle mode changes and there are separate pages for A and B turrets.

    You can tell if you do it right by jogging the m-spindle.

    Best regards,

    Hi
    I will try and attach the photos of the parameter pages for both spindles. Tools being used are 11 and 1. I hope this helps

    Thanks

    bit 0 controls the direction of the M-tool spindle for G140 mode
    that is not a problem since you say it works ok.

    bit 4 controls the direction of the M-tool spindle for G141 mode
    0 = CW
    1 = CCW

    note there is a separate bit (0,4) for each tool. you can control the M13 forward direction for each tool on both turrets and both left and right side.

    all your bits are 0 so I don't see any obvious errors. unless you selected the wrong turret? you have A turret selected....

    if that is correctly selected try changing bit 4 for one of your used tools to 1 and see what happens.

    this may not fix your problem because you say it does rotate the correct way but then changes when reading the cycle.

    I would be curious to see what his actual code is. Everyone seems to always jumps to the conclusion it is a parameter problem even though more than 1/2 of of the time the "problem" can be corrected with the proper code.

    it's not uncommon to see the direction is wrong on twin chuck Okumas because there is a bit for each tool and each chuck (4 pages of bits).
    Several were wrong on my machine too. The first time it happened I couldn't believe my eyes!

    But yeah, let's see your code.......
