The OSP 200 control on an Okuma Horizontal Machining Center has the normal rapid rate and feed rate override controls on the panel, but it also has a MANUAL feed rate control right in the middle of the panel. The axis select switches X, Y, Z, 4, 5, 6, are to the left of it and Plus, Minus and Stop are above it. In my experience, a person would MDI in a small program to perform manual machining of vice jaws, for example. When are these controls used? Thanks in advance for your input.
Like the button says, you use it in Manual. For example if you want to face the top of your jaws, you would push the X axis set your feed to 10 IPM and press the + button and you will feed across the top using the manual feedrate control to adjust it up or down depending on how it is cutting. When you finish cutting press the stop button (between the + and - buttons)
This switch is also used when you do a restart. After the sequence restart is pushed, the switch is used to control the approach feed rate, so make sure it is down before pushing the SR button.
