We are working on aluminium castings at work wich aren't very stable in sizes.
the machine is set up with 3 G15's in order to machine the top, bottom and side of the castings. additionaly there is sets of G15's associated with tools that work on the un-fixed side of the jigg that are manually changed almost all the time in order to compensate for varying sizes of the castings.
this is time consuming and not very safe, what my co-worker did is write down some charts with 9 possible size of casting associated with the offset that should be entered. I don't like it really. The reason being that the offsets for the G15's are in the order of 4 inches approximately but only 2 of them need to be changed, also the castings are in metric and the offsets are in inches.
There has to be a way to be able to enter an offset that represents a real compensation; for instance: to make the nominal value the one that is written on the plan, and if the casting has .005 more in width, then enter that exact offset in somewere. this would make it less confusing.
also to note there is no macros in the program whatsoever, and it is written in inches.

Add the compensation to VC1
then you could have
VZOFZ=15678.876 or whatever the nominal value is
Or if you want to change the units
