If the turret is straight and on center, that thing will tap soft steel all day long. It really depends on how many your going to make, a floating holder that size will be a lot more than a thread boring bar.
I have been reading about the woes of trying to tap with an LB15, and I have an order of nuts to make with 16mm course thread ID. I am using good ol' high lead 12L14 hex stock. I need to tool up one way or the other, either by buying an indexable thread point that will reach into a 14mm bore, or buy a floating tap holder. I am curious which way any of you would approach it. Thanks.

450 parts. But I see your logic. There is room for tooling either way. I am just trying to choose the most efficient. Thanks.
