I think, you better choose operation manual because it give explanation for machine operation methods, program operation methods, and describes the contents and setting procedure of the parameters used by NC.
I recently started a job as an operator of an Okuma LU15 with an OSP7000L control. I would like to know which of the 2 manuals linked below would be the better for getting accustomed to using the OSP7000L control.
Okuma OSP7000L OSP700L OSP Instruction Manual - eBay (item 180406700640 end time Nov-05-10 11:35:33 PDT)
Okuma OSP7000L OSP700L Operation Manual - eBay (item 180406690052 end time Nov-05-10 11:09:53 PDT)
Thanx for your input.

After closely looking over the contents pages of both manuals, I came to the same conclusion,
Thanx,

none of them in my opinion. There is very few lines usefull in these manuals. All you need to operate you can get here. Information about ordering a spare parts is specific to machine, so no need to spend money on these books.
Hmm so you would have this person take a computer out to the machine, search all over the forum looking for clues on how to use his machine...possibly NOT finding the answers that he needs, rather than use a manual (that he clearly has) to work out what and how?
What a silly idea to say the least!
Choosing the Operation manual will help you learn the basics on the machine.
The other manual is also important as it will give you the basics of how to program the machine.
Good luck and make sure you ask lots of questions here... There are many helpful people on this forum that are only too happy to help if possible.
Regards
Brian.
what You makes to think I'm so stupid?
There are many claims about Okuma manuals complication. Okuma manuals are good for reference, when you know already the work flow. Are useless for beginner, for training.
Everyone can make own notes print it out and have it next to machine, no need to take PC to workshop.
There will be about 20 lines of notes to run machine properly. You will get old reading through Okuma manual and understanding step by step, that this nice function is optional, this one doesn't applies to your model and so on.
Okuma manuals are filled by illustrations and explanations how to push a button. What is use for the beginner of that?
Err lots of things...
Also please note! I did NOT call you stupid... you did that all by yourself!
I just stated that it was a "silly" idea... but then, that is only MY opinion isn't it?
Well maybe they are there so that beginners learn how to press the CORRECT button...? How's that for an idea? Wow pressing the correct button seems like a real good idea on any machine! If there is a picture showing you EXACTLY which button to press, rather than a long winded written description... I know what I would pick.Okuma manuals are filled by illustrations and explanations how to push a button. What is use for the beginner of that?
As the old saying goes, A picture is worth a thousand words!
