    Default MA-400HA ALARM 1151-02 ALARM-A #13

    Hello all,
I have a Okuma MA-400HA with a P200M control. Im not too familiar with okuma as this is our only one and it rarely goes down.

We keep getting a "1151-02 MCS... Y-Axis 400 #13" alarm that will not reset unless we cycle the power. We took a look at the drive unit, when this alarm occurs the drive display flashes back and forth from "13" to "E.L". Alarm usually occurs when the spindle is at tool change position (not during tool change but a few minutes after) while sitting idle. I'm told there can be a problem with the inverter drive or motor but would like to narrow it down. Has anyone else had this issue?

I had never had exactly this issue, but evidently it is MCS unit= inverter.
Look at inverter fans. Suppose, they are dirty and don't cool.

    Thanks for the reply Aldirgas.

We checked them out, everything is pretty clean, all fans in the cabinet are running. It seems to usually occur later in the day. I think you may be onto something in regaurds to heating/cooling. Machine is in a envirament where temperatures do reach the low 100's. Im not sure if Okuma's are built for this?

did You checked inside cabinet fans or MCS unit fans?
all drive units, power supply unit and maybe some more power unit has cooler in their back. These coolers are placed in special silo. Air is convected there by fans. These fans are important at this case

We only checked the fans in the cabinet, we where looking for a fan inside the drives themselves, but we never checked the back of the drives, so we thought they didn't have any fans, THANKS! ill have to check that next.

We also noticed the machine usually alarms out later in the day when temperature is at it's highest, manual says stable machine conditions are only up to 104 F deg. We put a thermometers inside and outside the electrical cabinet, when machine alarmed out, outside temp was 102 F deg. , and cabinet temp was 108 F deg. we had our night techs hook up a temperary AC unit and run a duct into the panel, I hope it works so we can do a more perminent fix.

I'm still going to check the drive fan though, that could explain why only that drive faults out in the heat.

    Default MCS Alarm - A #13

Check inverter fan over the heat sink - if you need the replacement procedure, let me know, I'll e-mail it to you...send me request at kevin@cnctechnicalservices.com

    sorry for my poor English
inverter fan over the heat sink
it's exactly what I want to say. I wrote "cooler" instead of heat sink
cabinet temp was 108 F deg
really? check Peltje elements then. Maybe they are dead already. They are mounted on front door inside of main control cabinet as usually. Very easy to kill if keeping the door open.

Turns out the fans on the back of the drive units where cloogged especially the y-axis drive, thanks for the tip Algirdas!, none of us would have guessed the fans would be behind the drives. i didnt get to see how dirty they where but our 2nd shift tech said they where pretty gummed up.

Is for the 108 deg. inside the panel, i must explain, we're basically in the desert with no AC, that same day it was 102 deg. outside the panel (room temp).

Thank you all for your support.

Hi I have a same alarm on Okuma Ma-50HB OSP U-10. Each time when I try to start spindle, I got this alarm, I checked drive and replaced 3 IGBT modules because one was broken. I checked a motor of spindle: looks like “short ‘’on every outs (U-X, V-Y, W-Z).Does anybody know how ohms I should have on spindle motor bobbins 22kw? Sorry for my English.

    Default Alarm 1151 #13 and #14

    Hi guys!
Maybe this won't solve the problems listed under but i wuld like to share my experiences about alarm 1151 #13 and #14.
I have an Okuma ESV4020 equipped with an Okuma Osp U10M control and we were getting these errors appeared from one day to another.

we could rotate the spindle with 100 RPM, but when we tried to trim the RPM via override or in MDI wit S commands then the spindle load went up and the machine stopped with 1151 alarm sometimes with #13 and sometimes with #14.

We did some measurements on the Spindle motor and find out that one of the 3 phases was leaking to the frame---->

Than we disassembled the motor (AC Okuma VAC-YMFC7.5/5.5R-052T)
and sadly noticed that the lower part of the winding was flooded by a mix of water and oil.

So We sent the motor for a full re-wire and now we are hoping the best...
Today is the day of reassembly... wish me all the best guys

Mainly the problem is that this motor is an open motor that sucks air trough the spinning part and because of the centrifugal force some oil and water splashes to the side of the standing part and the winding and there is no overflow hole on the case so if water gets in it wont come out unless we bore a small hole on the lower side on the motor.. maybe next time

Let Me know if there are any important things to take care about when reassembling the MC...

I hope this can be helpful for someone in the future!!

    Default Same problem!! Need Help!

we measured and it seems we have some phases leaking to the frame again...
Can the failure of the speed range shift relays cause the winding to melt down in the motor?? We are up to disassembel the motor now.. I'll be back with the experiences after disassembling..

I assume you are using a megger to test the windings - are you right at the motor terminals or are you in the electrical cabinet reading back through the leads/windings (in other words, did you disconnect the leads going out to the motor from the drive/winding changeover contactor and are checking from there)?

Smile Okuma MX MA40 or MA400

    Hi
There is a helpful guide to the repair and maintenance of the machines on the blurb website.
Google blurb.co.uk, then search maintenance guide Okuma. It is £15, but the info contained is very helpful. It is written for the 7000 U100, E100 controls, but the E100 is very similar to te P200 control.
Hope this is helpful to all those Okuma machine centre users

I've disconnected the motor from the drive unit (inverter) at the box on the motor and did the measures after, and discovered that the wiring was in contact with the upper (fan side) bell of the motor. We've isolated the wiring from the metal surface and assembled the motor, put it back on to the MC and tried it out and the problem still remains --->
    errors:

    1162 1
    1162 4
    1185 7FFF0000
    1185 7FFFFFEF
    1185 80010000
    1185 80010012

now KM110 and KM111 relays are working fine but still no spinning occurs

here is a link for the electrical drawing of the spindle drive: [IMG][/IMG]
Tomorrow I'll have a drive specialist guy in the shop to figure out what is the problem, anyway I welcome any ideas in the mean time..

    Default problem solved

In the finish We've discovered that KA110 and KA111 relays were failing on the winding change so We've replaced them with 2 new one and voila MC is ready to fly.... error searching method: when the error 1162 4 happened my Father hit the stack witch contains the KA110 and KA111 relays with a bolt driver and changing happened... I hope this will help someone someday...
