I have a 1997 Okuma Cadet 4020. I am moving to a new location that requires removing the Z-Axis Drive Motor for Clearance. Has anyone done this procedure before? Is disassembly and reassembly pretty straight foward, or should I call in a professional?
The best is if You still have transportation fixture. Otherwise put timber between spindle nose and table. The procedure is simple: press down the timber with spindle until load will drop and rise up. You can remove motor mechanically then. If in case, You will need to set Z axis encoder offset by new. It's simple.
