    LR-15 Run Time

I am looking at an older LR-15 with a 5020 control. It looks to be in good shape and the owner claims it has been in storage and is a Low hours machine. Is there a way to tell how many hours the machine has run?

There are (five) NC time counters. Maybe on "check data" screen for this OSP. For newer OSP's NC counters are under user parameters.
It doesn't tells about machine condition however. You check work accuracy. Simple cut small diameter and bigger, let's say 3mm and 30mm. Check the diameter error difference, check roundness ...
Some machine tools from that period were equipped with mercury timer. Maybe You will find in control cabinet or maybe display visible outside.

Lr15 with 5020 was one of the last LR's. Do yourself a favor and get someone familiar with LR's to look at it. Time means nothing, could have had the memory board changed or whatever. LR's CAN have a problem on the X axis lower slide. If the seals were not replaced at least every two years, coolant will get in the the way area and destroy the ballscrew and slideways. I know the price is super cheap on LR's, but you really don't want to dump thousands in to it right off the bat.

I have checked all the ball screws and turned a part to check machine accuracy. All looks good. the manual says that the timers are listed on a user parameter page but I can't find the page. It isn't under the "check data" screen either. I think there might be a parameter or a "back door" key sequence to get at the timer screen. Can anybody help?

    Press the Paramater Mode PB
--Item down ( F keys ) to the NC work counter should show 4 or 5 part counters
    then
--Page down to 2nd page for the machine hours screen (on time, spindle run time, etc )
