    Okuma LH35-N w/osp5000L getting started

Hi, I'm new to the forum and to cnc machines in general.
our shop has acquired an old okuma lh35-n with osp5000l control.
any suggestions on where to get started learning how to talk with this beast?? can't find any communication ports on the machine so i suppose i have to plot in the codes manually.

    thanks,
    Frank

communication doesn't helps much. You need someone to show at the machine. Original Okuma manuals are designed that way, to get machine down if You don't know what are You doing.
I have "training certificate" - my own practical paper, where operator signs every item on training. It is designed that way, if You go starting with 1st forward to 60 referring to manual, You start to work with machine using nearly 70% of control capacity. It's quite enough for production and safe work. Let me know, if You don't get anything better.

5000L should have a comm port. look in the tape reader door. IIRC thats where they stuck them. Cable MUST not be over 50ft though, those were the old 3volt signals. I also remember them having to be hardwire handshake as well.

Ok, i found the comm port....

anyone know where a programming manual /tutorial for this control could be found?
alternatively an instruction book that covers 2 axis lathes and appropriate coding?

i have gotten the machine started up and going to x and z coordinates through a simple program. but that is also the extent of my knowledge.

    thanks,
    Frank
