Sadly I've been operating FADALs for the last ten years and now I work in a shop that has no FADALs. One of the machines that I'm programming is a brand new OKK VM7. I cant figure out exactly how to rigid tap. I tried the same type of cycle that I used on the FADAL but it doesn't seem to be working right. the cycle I used was as follows G43H*Z.1 G98G84Z-.5R.1Q.05F300. G80 The OKUMAs that I run use an M29 above the cycle and no Q. the feed rate is the pitch x the RPM. When I tried using a G84.1 it told me that it was an improper G code. | add the M29 S*** Just before the tapping cycle. S being the speed you used to calculate your feed. Also I would check the tapping cycle line I dont think there is supposed to be a Q If I was at work I could send you an example as I program a VM5III. |

I finally figured it out on Thursday. I put an M29 with the speed on the line right above the tapping cycle. I used a G84 and the feed figured by multiplying the pitch by the RPM. You're right there is no Q needed. I appreciate your help. |
