I got my machine as a complete newbie so here are a couple of suggestions:
Get at least 2 of every endmill you want. You will break them when just startig out and it sucks to have to end your project.
Get a good vise. I broke my $89 one in less than a year. BUT little machine shop shipped me out a new one in less than 24 hours.
I would get the coolant system from Novakon. I got the grizzly one and it is tempermental.
Quick change is good. I wish I went with the tormach system instead of the cheap chinese setup I have.
One thing that I did when I first started out was to cut wood on new toolpaths before I ever did metal. Saved me a bunch of broken tools and you can usually run it really fast just to make sure you don't do anything you aren't supposed to.
