Novakon Unveils New NM-145 CNC Mill

    Dear CNCzone members,

Novakon Systems LTD today announces the release of its NM-145 Bench Series 2 CNC milling machine. Available for pre-order now and shipping late March 2010, the NM-145 CNC retains all the great attributes of the NM-135 model while the transformation is unprecedented in performance and usability not offered in any other machine within its class.

The most notable NM-145 enhancements come in the form of increased rigidity through a completely redesigned and heavier cast iron A Frame base, larger 4 T-slot table, vastly improved coolant containment system, easily maintainable swing out electrical cabinet, and optional 4th, 5th and 6th Axes for infinitely complex machining capabilities.

The NM-145 turnkey package sells for $6,495 USD and includes standard features such as an integrated 3 Axes Gecko driven controller system which also accommodates an internal PC installation, 23.6” x 7.8” table, 13.75” x 8” x 11” work envelope, 6000RPM spindle, 1.5HP motor, R8 taper, user selectable 110/220VAC input voltage, Mach3 and BobCAD-CAM software suites.

In its ongoing commitment to revolutionizing the affordable CNC milling space, Novakon Systems LTD has listened to its customers and developed what it believes is the ultimate cost effective CNC mill for R & D, prototyping, educational institutions, small business applications and the home hobbyist.

Any plans for new machines in the NM-200 class?

so i was at novakon yesterday afternoon. checked out the nm-145. it was partly disasembled for setup, so i didnt get to see it in action sadly.

on the surface though, man, its impressive for the price. imagine the nm135, then think of all the little things that could make it better. most of those things are on this machine.

bigger, heavier, more travel, stronger column. ball screw inside the column. telescoping way covers, with stainless guards on the z. the coolant system looks very well done, as does the splash guard. adding a higher plexi guard around the sides is relatively easy making whats effectively a basic enclosure.

theres 2 gas struts right on the top of the Z saddle, so you should get smooth z motion.

one of the coolest features is the big electrical cabinet on the back. you can fit the whole control in there, nice and safe out of the way. just run out cables for a monitor and keyboard, or touch panel. will be cool if an arm could be fashioned to hold that right up front.

the table is nice and big too. the gibs and dovetails look more substantial than they were on the 135, which should mean smoother motion and some more ridgidity.

all in all, a very slick machine.

now if i can only find a place to put it

I ordered one of the NM145's.

Khai is going to ship ( hopefully ) in April when I get back from vacation !

I am excited , now I just need the power draw bar setup, and to make a automatic type tool changer for it.......

The reason I picked the NM 145 is that it will fit through my new shop door. Its a small tiny door and I don't have a bay door.

I ll post pictures when it gets here.

Thats good to hear. I would love to have bought a used machine with ATC and things like that. But I cant fit them through my door. So this machine will be a good start.

Who knows...... maybe someone will come up with a ATC for this.......

Well I just switched to a NM 200 instead of the NM-145...... just figured a little bigger would be better. Thats what I originally was thinking in the first place. Now I have to cut my door to fit it in.

    Lightbulb

There's current a 10% off sale on NM-200's. (same as ed. discount, though the 2 can't combine - I would have bought one yesterday otherwise ). They're running out of stock (only 4 left last I checked). The 200's going to be replaced with a new model with 6000RPM spindle amongst other changes. Price is increasing by $500 I think they said.
    woot!
