Novakon NM-200 - Still waiting on VFD fix. Still having problems.

So, I'm one of the guys whose spindle died soon after receiving the mill
in January. I got a replacement VFD (but still with the same problems as the one that went down) and am running it at speeds in excess of 1500 rpm as per Novakon, but the mill still resets frequently and inconsistently. When I say frequently, I mean as often as every 10 minutes on average. I say inconsistently, because it trips the reset while running programs, while jogging the axes in Mach 3 with the spindle on or off, and while just sitting idle.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Can the VFD cause Mach3 to reset even when the spindle's not running? Any ideas what's going on?

i don't have a Novacon, but i had a similar problem when i in stalled a vfd on my cnc'ed RF-30. It would go into E-stop mode after 10-15 min when just the spindle was running.
Too much RF noise from the vfd. I increased the debounce settings. Helped a little. Then i changed the carrier wave fequincy from 8 kilohertz to 14 kilohertz. Problem went way along with the anoying buzz/humming noise.

did they set anything on the vfd?

    I am using a teco fm 50-202-c

    Hope this helps

its not a VFD. that is one thing to point out first. its a brushless dc drive.
second, when people talk about a "reset" issue, i *think* they mean the drive resetting/stalling and not coming back to life. not mach e-stopping. mines never done that, its only got low torque, so i may be mistaken.

in any case, i think as the previous poster implies power quality is at least part of this particular issue. ive had this happen a few times randomly on my nm145, but ALSO on my gecko g540 powered router in around the same time frame. i do not believe this watchdog timer triggerring is fundamental to the spindle drive, although it may be extra picky about power quality.

so basically, see if you can get any sort of power conditioner between the mains and the machine or try another circuit and see if anything changes.
