    Draw Bar

I had to make a new draw bar yesterday. I machined a new one from a longer Bridgeport style with a heavier nut end and more thread engagement.

I bought a 20 1/2 " long Bridgeport bar, cut it down to 12 3/4" , drilled and reamed a hole in the nut end for just shy of 1" depth. Then tig welded the nut to the shaft.

I had to enlarge the hole in the top cover to fit it through. But its way better now. I feel more comfortable with having more thread engagement then I did prior.

How many threads of engagement do you guys have with your NM 200 Drawbar ?

I think I have 4-5 threads in collets, after turning down the top collar. No issues to date.

Did you switch to 3/4 nut from 12mm?

Yes I did go to a 3/4 setup instead of the smaller 12mm.

Works awesome. Now I have atleast 9-10 threads engaged.
