    Gib screw and lubrication

Just got a NM135 and the X axis intermittently jams, I notice that the Gib moves and when it does thats when it jams, I believe I read it was a tapered gib so if it moves it probably tightens up. What keeps the gib in place?

Also my X axis especially the side with the gib and the screw doesn't seem to be getting much oil, The Y gets lots and the Z a bit less. Any thoughts?

    Thanks
    Geoff

there is one screw at the end of each gib. the one on the "big" end tightens the gib, the one on the other end locks it in place - or loosens it. to me it sounds like the screws arent set correctly.

you should go through each axis, loosen the gibs a little, then slowly tighten and lock them a little bit at a time and run the machine to see if it binds or has play. keep going til the play is gone and the axis *just* binds. then back off a little and lock.

note that you need to run the whole travel length for this setup, as theres usually a "looser" end of the axis.

Thanks for the reply, just got back in town. I checked the screw on the left side(stepper motor side) was tight but the screw on the right was very loose, I had to tighten it at least 6 turns. The gib doesnt slide back and forth like it did but the table seems to be a bit tight at one end. I loosened the screw on the right then tried to loosen the screw on the left to lossen the Gib but I can't turn it- any ideas. Novakon has not returned several emails about the problem.
