I have made a little progress, but more questions appear.

    1. I am trying to understand the HAL file ans INI file, i can find information about the commands in linuxcnc, but how about the rest after the commands, what components can i use and what parameters do they take, for example how am i supposed to know that hm2_5i25.0.stepgen.06.dirsetup exists, and what values does that take, i need some sort of API documentation?

    2. I tried your Novakon files and commented out the parts that gave me errors, so now i can start the controller and give it a G0X10 command for example, and the y servo moves, very strange but anyway, it moves. but i cant move any axis with my arrows at the keyboard, it looks like it just moves around lite TAB would do in the different sections, or moving a sliders up and down but no axis movements. Do i have to do something else to let the arrow keys move the axis?

    Over and out for now!

Unfortunately if you are running PathPilot, you dont have easy access to the tools you do when running LinuxCNC
The low level details of things like stepper timing depend on the hardware. For Mesa hardware the firmware is called hostmot2
So with LinuxCNC you can pullup the manual page on hostmot2 by typing "man hostmot2" in a terminal

Here's the stepgen portion of the hostmot2 manual:
    HOSTMOT2

With LinuxCNC, if you wished to see all available HAL pins in LinuxCNC you start LinuxCNC and use the command
"halcmd show pin" to show all available HAL pins or "halcmd show all" to show all pins, parameters, signals and functions

I dont know if manual pages or halcmd even exist on a PathPilot system as its been configured
to be a fixed purpose appliance, not an open and flexible tool kit like LinuxCNC

ok, well, i was just trying to understand the 3 files that brianbonedoc said thet needs to be configured for every different machine/bob for being able to use pathpilot with your mesa card. but maybe i dont need to understand this if you eventually will have the time to look at this and the .bit file?

any ideas about the keayboard arrow jogging issue?

I have the install CD that came with my lathe. Will that work for the mill as well?

Lee - yes it should be fine. U just select 1100-3 at the startup screen. I think your torus pro BOB is the same as the pulsar? So uncan start w my Hal file to get going.

    Thanks, Brian.
I have the Pulsar too, but the stepper version.
I am studying up on it and would like to make the switch at some point.
Can I just install linux on an SSD and swap that out with what is in the mill?

I have the Arduino BOB and I know I would have to bypass the ESS.

I do like the action of Path Pilot on the lathe. You just breathe on the space bar and that stops motion instantly. No half second delays.

Lee - perfect. Yours should be identical to mine then. If you install the files you should be good to go. I disconnected the ESS and plugged my BOB (arduino version) into the Mesa 5i25/6i25 which is the only piece of hardware to buy.

I too have 2 SSDs - one with original Mach3 that came w/ the mill and my new one. I just leave the Mach3 one unplugged sitting in the case.

Here are my latest files - you need all 4 to run the Pulsar - Plus the MESA bit file

Thanks a bunch, Brian for blazing the trail.
I am just getting my ducks in a row for when I do get time to do it.
I would like to install and see it working the same day.

Would it be possible to see a couple of pictures of the control panel?
What size SSD did you use.
I have a blank 240 GB here now, but I think I can get away with smaller?

Lee 240gb is way more than enough - I think 60gb is still plenty. U want pics of the pathpilot Main screen or the wiring inside? Not sure what u meant by control panel.

Just the wiring and component setup and layout inside the control panel.
    Thanks.

    Thanks, Brian.
I just ordered the smaller SSD today. Went with 120 GB.

On the turret version of the Tormach lathe you can just crack the enclosure door and everything stops. Fix the problem (usually a bird's nest for me) and click on Cycle Start to resume.

It is elegantly simple in it's control.
It basically just works as it should.

Lee - these pic's are a little embarrassing as it looks like a mess in there. And for some reason the uploaded pics are turned 90 deg. Everything is mostly stock except the added Mesa PCI card. And I added a 4th axis driver.
