just 6061. it has to be a nice slight press fit, and dead square, which isnt easy on the best of machines using multiple setups.
im eyeballing a cheap as chips brother and my mesa kit today... haha. if i could make it run with no significant extra dollars input within a week or 2... it would be worth it, but as i know from my Maho, it could quickly become a nightmare that wont be useful any time soon. of course, the brother is barely more sophisticated than the novakon, so it could never be *that* bad.
We need pics and the whole story of the new toy!
Machine tool tease
:P
patience grasshopper.
Ok, I think we just passed the Tease Drive exit and are rapidly approaching the Turkey Blvd exit.
gobble gobble.
*cough cough*
ill make a new thread elsewhere when i begin to work on the first one. i think it will actually be relevant to here, cause of what ill be doing with linuxcnc and a home made industrial-ish control panel using adafruit aprts - ill be doing the same on my nm145 later on when i get that finished up mechanically.

808d is not certified for use in canada. its certification for use in the US was... questionable. as in, smithy obviously is using it, but its a direct from china deal that may or may not be officially allowed in the US. my siemens guy didnt seem to have an answer for that.
but indeed, it might be good to ask novakon again. we talked about this a little before, but that was some years ago and things have changed both at siemens and novakon since.
I am quite. Sure they have the certificate for USA and canada ,..

Someone on the Tormach forum pointed me to a page on their website which states quite unequivocally that it is NOT available without a Tormach S/N. Perhaps there is an un-advertised policy to the contrary. Did you purchase it for that price? If so, when?

Ray L.
I purchased it directly from Torrmach for $10. At the time they were selling the PP disk to anyone.
