Hi guys, this is my first post here. After spending much time on luthiers forums and CNC boards I started to get the crazy idea of also building my very own guitar ![]() Now I am looking for a place that could carve a body using CNC. I am looking for decent price and decent wood quality (not sure yet on the wood). Might be tricky for a single piece unfortunately ![]() I don't mind the country, US, Europe or Asia, as long as the service is good. This is the kind of body I'd like to get done (very early version of the top carve, no routing or final shape): ![]() ![]() Any contact is welcome |

| Hi~ Nice rendering. Have you received any offers yet? If you have the files (dxf, stl, etc.) I can do the cnc work. Cost would only be for materials and shipping, plus photos of your completed guitar to add to my portfolio. All types of tonewoods are easily available here in the USA. If you are just looking for a "raw" body, check Warmouth, Mighty Mite, and even eBay. It might be cheaper and save you some time. Last edited by tjskcnc; 05-10-2010 at 04:45 AM. Reason: - |

| I would be interested in assisting you as well. I can provide further CAD work to complete any modeling, and can create the CAM programs and have the pieces fabricated from any wood species of your choice. Please e-mail me at mike@mcpii.com if you have any further questions, or if I can be of further assistance to you. |

| hmm, I can't yet help you with the CNC stuff, but I'm manually building a very similar guitar right now... http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/luth...o-replica.html I can really recommend Honduran Mahogany (not cheap and hard to obtain) or Khaya mahogany (cheaper)... Regarding CNC milling, I'd go an ask some local cabinet makers... 3-axis CNCs shouldn't be too hard to find... -Tom |
