Check this machine out....

Hey All,

I was looking around for some supplies the other day, and I came across this:

http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=19666

Not a bad price, for getting into cnc! Seems well made, but I have not been able to find any specs on speeds. Also, 24x24 is a tad small, especially for necks, but should be able to cut them with some good re-indexing tactics! Looks like a good size/price ratio for getting started into cnc, and they also have a smaller brother.

I do not have a rockler store near me, else I would definitely check it out!

Anyway, thought the group here mind find it interesting....would love the feedback if anyone actually owns one.

Buy me a Beer?

My local Rockler had the standard, smaller Shark, not the Shark Pro. I didn't see it running, but I wasn't too impressed. If you have the ability to build your own machine, you can get a heck of a lot more machine for the money. It looked to be mostly plastic, with unsupported linear shafts.

I've seen one up close and operational. They work really well and are very functional. If I didn't have the ability to build my own, i'd likely own one.

I'm just looking forward to building one.

I bought the Pro. So far fairly impressed, but looking for something that'll let me carve a chair seat with it. The included Vcarve V5 software is 2.5d.
