3d Guitars

The guitars were created in Bobcad Cam. I have cut both guitars on my cnc. One from wood and the other from cast acrylic. The dimensions and contours are fine. Can anyone help me to engrave / carve a scene onto a contoured surface. I have been taking jpg and other graphic files and converting to dxf and then carving into the guitar face.. This works ok but still not what I would like.. I am using Bob cad v 21 and vcarve pro and v carve 3d, corel draw, and photoshop.

Mike,

What do you want to put on the surface?

Can you post a picture or example of the finished look?

Jeff...

Hi Mike,

Interesting project.

Not exactly sure what you are looking to machine onto the 3D guitar body. But wondered if you have looked Aspire which can be used to Project toolpaths onto an underlying 3D shape.

This should work for engraving detail onto the guitar body so long as the underlying shape is not excessively curved.

Drop me an email if you have any questions.

Tony

I have just upgraded my copy of VCarve Pro to Aspire exactly with the purpose of designing and building guitars.

i noticed a problem with this model.. the neck pocket on the upper side.. the horizontal line doesnt meet where it should, its snapped to something else which slightly throws off the neck pocket contour
