Importing the plans into the computer after scanning them, I was able to use Solidworks to "trace" around the body, and the surface contours with no issues. The plans provided a "cross-section" of the body, with the contours and routes very clearly shown. All dimensions where also included (got mine from StewMac). I made some of my own modifications (because I am stuffing a USB interface in the guitar), but the model came out extremely well in the end.

I had those plans a while ago, the neck dimensions are not to my liking.
The top contour are useful but there are not enough cross-sections to make an accurate copy.
That why I asked has anyone considered digitising a Les Paul. |
