Laser scan of a neck

I bought today a laser scanner to scan bodies and necks. I have one problem I live and work in China and although the program that came with it is legal I cannot get an english manual.

Any simple tips on how to make the best scan of a neck ? I think Mach from Artsoft can do it but since I live here and the builders have no knowledge of Mach I am afraid I cannot get good help from them.

Is there a program that also has a good video tutorial so I can do all myself ?

Thanks for any reply and help !

Meindert

You could ask someone from Gibson or Fender.

I did because I have internal CD's from one of them with all the specs from their guitars. Problem is that noboddy knows how to scam front and back and "put them together and make 100% good copies.
You read a lot about CNC rouring but there must be people who also use a scanner. For me it's also a first and if I understand the basics I can with my translator explain it using the software they provide ( legally ) the problem would be solved.

Before anyone get's clever and starts about copied guitars with illegal brand names; we build ordered guitars for private persons and we NEVER make logo'd or brandnames

Meindert I think a better solution than lazer scanning would be using a digitizing probe to pick key points and then model the part. First I have had parts lazer scanned and the file size is huge. If you don't have enough computer (like me) it is nearly impossible to manipulate the scanned files.

What specific guitars are you wanting to have your guitars resemble?

HI

Sorry for late reply. Since I am new to this CNC field I would be happy with any suggestions. The probe would be a good idea since scanning as we tried is to difficult.
Is there any literature that people would advice ?

Further a very stupid question that I cannot solve. How I can do the top first and what to do to make top and back aligned ? I know this is one of the most stupid questions on this forum but I WOULD BE HELPED WITH an answer on this since I nit figured out this "problem"

The software I will use is Solidworks, Mastercam and MACH 3.

Thanks for any info that can help me getting started
