I was approached by a customer who owns an media company that wanted to film his guitar being made. The end result will a thirty minute(ish) DVD that shows the build of Sabre #2 from beginning to end. I've uploaded the rushes from the first chapter to you tube BUT these are just rushes - some scenes are out of sequence, the '6 hours later' is wrong and the scene where i'm sanding the wiring channel clean is cut short. Also there's no voice over but it does give you a little idea of what we're trying to do. Anyway I thought you might like a look They say the camera puts ten pounds on you - he could have told me he was going to use five cameras |

| Very nice work there. I am impressed. The video is very high quality. Finally a machine video where the lighting is good and the camera is not hand held, shakey and out of focus. Last edited by Mike Stevenson; 01-09-2008 at 10:06 PM. |

| Very nice. I'm curious about the bits you are using. What kind of bit is the large diameter flat one that you are using to thickness the board? Also, is the metal pin a locating pin so you can flip the part over? Are there two pins, or one. Thanks, |

| http://www.wealdentool.com/acatalog/..._Trim_225.html You're quite correct there are two pins per side and they're used to index the body for reverse side machining.

Nice bit for a CNC machine. The closest I could find in the US is the Wagner Safe-T planer, but it is not designed for a router. I love the WoodRat as well, but it is not for my limited hobbyist budget. |

| Very Nice Work Indeed!!! ...I see that you were using mach3 to drive your router... What software are you using to design your guitars, and what are you using to create machine (g) code? Do you mill only the bodies, or do you also use your cnc for necks? Cheers! |

| I use a combination of Rhino 4 and madcam for all my design/machining - I tried RhinoCam but found madcam to be simpler/more intuitive for me. I do everything in house - bodies, necks, inlay, finishing etc. etc. I also machine some of my metal components and a good friend of mine winds the pickups. http://www.bulldogpickups.com/

| That is excellent! I am very happy to see people achieving great results with the "CNC process." Even though there is a LOT of work to be done after machining, CNC surely does make things easier and more precise (I am a big fan)! I have chosen Solidworks and Mastercam, and so far, results are great. have a look here: http://www.cncguitar.org:7171 Cheers! |
