    Hi All,

    This is my first post.

I have to give a big shout out to CyborgCNC! Yes, I did order all his videos. And yes it is 100% worth it!

I go to school for Architectural Woodworking. We have Mastercam and a Techno CNC. I ended up buying SolidWorks so I could follow every step on the videos.

I started guitar design around March-ish. Machined a prototype by May. Refined the neck and body that same month and I am now working on serial number 7. 8 guitars including the prototype in about 6 months - not bad. All were done with only one mistake on the 1st neck and that mistake was repaired. The mistake became serial number 5.

I make products for customers who pay the school so I make no money on these. But it is really fun and my instructor / school is amazed on how much I know on the CNC.

Guitars are not the only things I have done on the CNC. I have also made tools such as radius sanding blocks, slotted straight edges for frets / fretboards, neck molds, the list goes on. All this was possible by applying what I have learned from Cyborg's videos.

So for all those who are eye-ing his videos, just buy it!

zycousa, check out the endmills on fastenal.com. Our school orders from them. They have endmills as small as .005" and increase in increment by .001". I bought a .023" bit for fret slots for about $13.

    Hello again,

My instructor set up a tour for Warmoth exclusively for me and another guitar builder. I went yesterday and was hosted by their head engineer. Spent about two hours in the factory - I was blown away - they really have quite the operation. They can cut up to twelve necks at a time using a 1" bull mill. The feed rate was very fast - I don't even want to guess what it was set at. The contours, pockets, and chambers on the bodies were cut to final depth in one pass! While I was in the sanding room, I learned a trick to sand inside the horns of the body – that has always been a pain in the @@@ to do! There is even a studio where ALL bodies and necks are photographed for posting on the website. The body you choose is exactly what you get. So how does one compete with that? The individual can't! I totally agree with Cyborg and RirHett as I am retired and going to school. Without my pension, it would be very difficult for my family to make do.

I wanted to share some pictures of my work with you all. I've emailed a few to CyborgCNC. So here are SNs:001, 002, 005 and the prototype. My waiting list through my college sits at 17 and growing. The logo on the headstocks are my initials - HT. I've got to design a truss rod cover -tried some pre-made covers and they don't look right with my headstock. I really dig the inlays on 005. I may have to start doing all my guitars like this. It really goes well with the logo.

I graduate in June; looks like I won't be able to fill the orders by then. So I'm going to have to build my CNC and find a place to run it if I am to continue the awesome craft of CNC lutherie.

Thanks to everyone in this forum who helped guide me through. I'm glad I found it last year. It only took me a year to decide to register and make a post.

Thanks to CyborgCNC for teaching me step-by-step on the design process and machining.

Before last year I didn't ever touch a hand-held router, didn't even know what a jointer did, and always screwed up using a hand plane. With the help of my instructor, classmates, numerous books, and this forum, I've come a long way.

Merry Strings and Happy Tremolos to all!
    Bah Humbuckers!

    Question

    Oh oh!

I ordered and paid for the guitar dvd last week. I was wondering why I couldn't get hold of cyborgcnc.

Is cyborgcnc still running the website? You are still able to place orders on the site but can't seem to contact anyone there.

    I beg to differ....

I answer all emails within a few hours of receiving them....and I do not know what it is, but a couple of folks said they could not find my email address??

OK, well, right smack in the bottom of the FRONT page, what do you see? I do not know how much bigger I can make the address... :-)

Anyway, site is in full swing, and has never been down. I am also going to unveil a NEW site, dedicated to CNC lutherie in the next few months, so watch out for that.

BTW, I wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to all you folks for your support. Your comments have been inspirational, and I am glad that all of you are succeeding with my methods!

Gezza: What are you talking about? Can you please send me a private message, with the details of your order, IF as you say, I have not responded to you? Otherwise, stop posting rubbish..

    Cool

In defence of CyborgCNC, as a proffessional luthier as well as holding down a fulltime job and also ghostbuilding for other guys I know how busy folk can get at times but remember he is only human as we all are and sometimes we are not at everybodys beck and call as we have a life as well and sometimes it takes a while to get on top of things, don't always jump to conclusions without knowing the facts! We should be greatful to guys like this who go the extra mile and make our work easier without trying to be negative towards him on a public forum JMHO so guys give the man a break eh!

Thumbs up PUBLIC APOLOGY to Cyborgcnc

Have been in contact with Cyborgcnc. He has indeed replied to my emails and shipped my dvd in a timely manner. Although I didn't get his emails in my Outlook nor were they in my junk mail folder, they were sitting in the SPAM folder in my email account with the ISP alongside other emails notifying me of lottery winnings and the millions of $ to be transferred to me from Nigeria etc.

So from Cyborgcnc's emails, I could tell that his service is both courteous and prompt and he, for what it's worth , has another supporter.

CyborgCNC will have many fans from his expertise and knowledge in making CNC for guitars easy, I didn't doubt for one minute that he would of pulled a fast one on anybody as the man is as honest as the days long and I have only come to this assuption by his posts and all his help he is giving that speaks volumes in my book. Anyway alls well that ends well.

Yeah - all's good now Kammo1. I just picked up the dvd from the post office this morning. If only I had waited one more day .......

I have to say though that I've spent many thousands buying various things off the internet but there was one line in one of Cyborgcnc's email to me that is worth more to me than any amount of advertising.

This line was "If you do not get this by Monday/Tuesday next week, please let me know, and I can ship it AGAIN no problem"

No other supplier has made this offer to me before! Normally I would have to wait 30 to 45 days and jump through whatever hoops they put up before even considering anything.

Now thats some good news bro, let us all know how you get on with them and what you're making. We all love to see stuff like this and it sure will make your life alot easier.
I have been custom guitar making here in the UK for over 25 years and everything I do is by hand and is totally custom made stuff to whatever the customer specs. Over the years I have tried to keep the handmade tradition as much as possible but it wasn't until I made a guitar for a world renowned rock bands guitarist that I became a little stuck, this was a signature model so all the specs had to be correct everytime "ALL" the time and yep you guessed it all 3 guitars were different to some degree and although he didn't mind as such it was my duty to get them right everytime so thats where I had to look into CNC. I am still building my machine as its a homebrew moving gantry design but I know its taking me forever I look at the light at the end of the tunnel for the rewards in it will make all my work more accurate and every piece will be the same and thats an important goal for me. Anyway enough of my ramblings and look forward to hearing what you have come up with, this CNC stuff is amazing!!!!!!!!! CHEERS! Laz aka Kammo1
