Hello from france. First sorry for my poor english, I try to read and write, but it isn't easy for me.. i started on december an electric guitar for my daughter Morgane 16' anniversary. you can see the project on hide files on my web site: http://g.coquery.free.fr/downlo/gratoune.exe http://g.coquery.free.fr/downlo/manche.exe (solid works auto exec files) it's an old version of the projetc but it's a good idea from it. My home made cnc machine is visible on a french modelism forum: http://www.retroplane.net/forum/view...?t=279&start=0 some pics of machining "rainure" (in french... but in english???) for truss ![]() neck rough ![]() detail from neck ![]() after machining table: ![]() other side ![]() machining the piece who receive frets (i dont know the good term) ![]() bindings hand made ![]() the first assembly ![]() yes it's a cock ![]() after finishing: ![]() ![]() ![]() the project is now finishet, il will start very soon an archtop projetc with nylon strings ans classical head. see you Guillaume |

hello thanks for your messages, sorry but i've not dxf plans, only solidworks. for the machining of the neck, the rough spend half an hour, for the finish if my memory is good it's around 1.5 hours for the table, the finish operation took 3.5 hours but the machine works alone in my garage, with a web cam too have a look from time to time to verify the machins is not in fire ![]() Guillaume (and sorry for my very personnal english...)

If you could post the *.dxf's I'd like to make a miniature in wax, and cast in 14KY gold. Would be very cool. I have never used SolidWorks, but I am sure they have a way to export as an STL type file or somrthing used to generate your G or M codes. BTW - This guitar looks a lot like a PRS McCarty model. What type of woods did you use for the actual guitar? Looks fabulissimo. But I'm a guitar freak. MG in Nashville, TN - Music City - y'all

Guillame, I am not sure I understand the construction of the guitar. Usually, on say a Gibson ES 335, you have an arched top, an arched bottom, and a separate solid center block carved to fit both top and bottom. From your pictures it appears that you have carved the center block and top from the same piece of wood. I don't understand how the top and bottom fit together. Did you carve half of the center block on the top and an identical center block on the bottom that mates together? Does the top "float" over a center block carved on the bottom? Does the bottom "float" under the center block carved on the top? Can you show us pictures of the inside of both top and bottom of the guitar? Can you tell me how tall the sides are (a Gibson ES 335 is about 65mm)? Thanks,

it's a Edrawing viewer, you can select the table and hide it so you can see how carved is the body! it's an old version but it's very similar on the final project! regards Guillaume

Hello this project is not similar of ES355, it's a small body like a LP for example. Es 355 il a bigger body isn't it? Well, my second project il began, it will be a real archtop guitar, the design is very personnal, and the choice of wood also...in french this white wood is Frene, and the red one is Jatoba. roughing the inside ![]() finishing inside ![]() outside rough ![]() just finish
