Buy me a Beer?

Just a hair over $6K if you leave off the aluminum table.

If you go with Rhino, you might want to look at MadCAM.

Gerry,
If price is a concern, why not go with V-Carve as opposed to Rhino? Aas far asa the K2 goes, I'm in totala agreement asa the low-cost CNC of choice. Speaking of K2, can you speak to their customer service? I too ama in the market and am looking ata the K2. As far asa V-Carve goes, it appears they have really good Customerr Service to go along with the great price....

You can't model guitars in V-Carve. I have no experience with K2 other than what I've read.

I purchased a CNC Shark Pro from www.nextwaveautomation.com for the low 3K range. I purchased it for the purpose of making guitars.

It has a 24" x 24" table so it will tackle anything pretty easy except for a "neckthrough." (I'm sure you could set things up to do a neckthrough, but..." (he makes a smaller version of the shark, and some larger CNC's too.)

It uses a ROTOZIP, which has about as much power as a laminate router.

The system I got came with a registered OEM version of BOBCAD v19 included in the price. It's an older version of Bobcad, but it really ROCKS. It has great primitive functions and boolean operations, I was able to make a model of a compound radius fretboard in about 30 minutes!

I'm new to the cnc community (you and I chated briefly in the LHR forum where I was "KarmaJon"). I can't compare this setup to anything else out there. I can only say that it's working fine for me, and I didn't have to spend much more additional funds. ($160 to register Mach3 to run more than 1000 lines of G-code.)

I wouldn't call it an industrial strength production machine, but if YOU are the one operating it, you should get a LOT of use out of it.

I've had my K2 3925 for a few months now and would recommend that you bite the bullet and get the aluminum table. With T slots running the full width it makes life a lot easier when it comes to holding things down.
