I hope you guys have some experience and can direct me correctly. I have some 2" thick solid Birch planks. The problem they are only 5" wide. I have a jointer that I was thinking of using to get a good edge and laminate them to make a piece wide enough to make a Tele body. Questions, what glue should I use and should I be using dowels/biscuits to reinforce the joint(s)? Thanks for the help.

| Use regular yellow woodworking glue, and no dowels or biscuits. If the surfaces are flat, an edge glued joint is stronger than the wood itself.

| Exactly what Ger21 said... I have always used Titebond, never used any dowels or biscuits, and never had a problem... Do not over tighten the clamps, since you will squeeze all the glue out....just enough to get some squeeze out and to make the seam disappear (if you did a good job on the joiner, this will be the case....dry fit them, there should not be any gaps when help up to a light...)
