    Default Stratocaster Neck in Rhino3D

    Hi guys,
recently I decided to build my own guitar using my CNC mill.
I started using Rhino3D for drawing the 3D model, but now I am struggling with making a smooth heel and headstock transition. I managed to make transitions with the "Patch"- command but it leaves gaps to the other surfaces so that I can't join them to a solid body.
I used "JoinEdge" to close the gaps and joined the surfaces to a solid body, but the transitions aren't as smooth as I would like them to be (you can see a slight edge at the heel transition).

Maybe someone can take a look at the file and offer me a better solution?

    Sincerely,
    Thomas

Hi, do you fix the problem?

Do you have files for the body? I wonder if you could share them because I would like to build my own Strat.

    Thank!

I can't open the file... But, you may have to create a few "drive curves" to make smaller patches, that follow the contour you want.

What is the best way to learn advanced modeling in rhino ?
I can do the basic drawing, but get stumped when doing complex things like triming , modifying or filleting solids and surfaces.

    Larry,
The best way is to have me explain to you in words and drawings. how surfaces are created and controlled with point or spline input..

I have taught this many times in English not Rino or Anycad.
They were making ships 1000yrs before cad. (how?)
    Wiki > Lofting

Start with a sheet of paper, curve it and observe that inside the 4 edges/border/boundaries s are controlled by the edges. machine code data is interpolated from edge data.
    Wiki > Bezier patches

With cad, and a vague understanding of advanced math (vectors),
anyone can master what was only for those with high level math education.
