I am learning 2 operate a Multicam M Series.Router....the problem I am having is that the tool bit goes down 2 far, I am cutting PVC 3/8"thick, when executing the job the tool bit cuts thru the pvc and also cuts thru the sacrifice board..the PVC is 3/8" thick and that is the value I entered when prompted do do so from the Routing Offset screen, I also did set the Surface depth and Max depth using the magnetic block..but i always get the same result (the bit cutting thru the sacrifice board) What I am doing wrong? I am using Enroute3.
TIA

Hi : I am having a problem when sending a job to my Multicam M series CNC machine, my problems is that the tool bit goes deeper than I wanted to..I was cutting laminated foam 1” inch thick, and that was the value I entered on the Depth section of the Router Offset screen, I used a ¼” tool bit. I also set the Surface dept and Max depth using the magnetic block of my table…I did set the surface on the top of the material, and when I defined the plate
That was the default “set surface at top”.
The tool bit cut thru the 1” material, but it also cut thru the sacrifice board about 1/8”,I am posting a pic of how it looks like, I do not know what I am doing wrong, I do not know if it is an Enroute issue or if it is a Muticam issue, Does any body have any ideas suggestions?
TIA

Ok...lets see 1st 3/8" material reguardless of what it might be is normally not 3/8", if you have a pair of dial calipers, I would suggest that you take 3 measurements and get the average of those readings, that is the number I would pit in to my cut depth + add .010. By adding the .010 you can use max depth override to make sure you cut thru your material.
Question are you taking your surface and max depth depth reading with the vacuum pump on?
Thank you for the sugestion, I sure will be tying that the next time (getting the 3 measurements and use the average), and to answer your question, yes i do turn the vacuun pump on when I am setting the surface depth.

is it consistently cutting to deep, as in no matter what tool you use and what you are cutting? Your going to see some marking on your spoil board but that is a little excessive. do you have an automatic tool changer?
No I dont...have one:
