I have an MX2 but don't know how to get the information you need, if you can tell me how to do it, I can try as i am having problems with my control and will be working on it.
I am an EE looking for the EPROM image of prom #40
(the lower one) on the CP-07 board of a MV Junior.
I managed to wipe mine, before I realized that I
did not have a good image of it. Bonehead move,
I know....
I had previously imaged all of the EPROMs in the whole
machine, for a rainy day, and that day has come.
Unfortunately, EPROM#40 is a 27c256, while all the
rest of the EPROMs are 27128's -- When I previously
imaged the EPROM#40, I only read out half of it! -
I wish I had paid more attention.
So, to make a long story short, I need an image
of #40 on CP-07. This is called the "ladder software"
EPROM, (it ruins the ladder logic CPU on the CP-07)
I will trade / share all of the other roms that I imaged
for this, and I am willing to help others repair/give advice
on the MX-2 (I have spent a TON of time reverse engineering
the dam thing thanks to Yaskawa's totally-closed mouth
nature of tech support)
Thanks,
---Lou

Thanks, but I got it. Turns out that the U-40 IC is
SUPPOSED to be a 27-128 - I had replaced it earlier
this year with a 27256, and coped the data over both
half's of the prom. This is what happens when you work
too much! You forget your own "tricks" - so, bottom
line is that I have all of the data I need.
I still have a failing CP-08 board, though.. It runs
for a while, and then either stops responding to the
lower half of the keypad, or it comes up with a
"Keep Memory error" - I think the ladder-logic PLC
part of the CP-07 is going bad.
I checked the voltage on the S-ram that holds
the PLC data, its 4.8 volts with the machine off,
so the problem really must be a hardware issue.
I am going to replace some of the chips on the
board that I suspect are bad - but that's a risky
thing because the idiots at Yaskawa soldered each
chip directly to the board. Even with good equipment,
replacing the chips is a risky deal.
Wish me luck.
PS: anyone have a spare CP-07 they want to sell?

"PS: anyone have a spare CP-07 they want to sell?"
I might be converting my machine to EMC2 if I can get some clues about how to do it. In that case I will have an extra one. I also know a machine repair guy that sometimes has them, I'll ask.
Thanks, as I need to get this machine up
ASAP - and getting a new board is the 100%
fastest way to do that.
