I'm betting there are final audit quality inspectors on site to certify units before the final Name goes on.
When Mori outsourced to Korea the plant became what is known today as Hwacheon Machine tools.
Well, today I spent at Mori DTL, as always a super impressive display. New factory will be across the street to build some horizontals.
But.....
A Chinese built DMG/Mori with a Maps control was there. The skin was certainly Mori, but machine construction looked more DMG.
What says you about a Chinese Mori? I'm on the fence.

But, that really wasn't so much outsourcing, that was Mori not wanting to build manual lathes any longer from what I was told.
hopefully we can get Mori knock-off machines for cheap at walmart now!
I'd be worried if I paid full mori price for a chinese made machine. Would you buy a ferrari that was made in china?

From what I understand it is only the low end ECO machines that will be produced in China. I believe they are old Maho designs, just modernized. Any of the other machines will still be produced in Japan except the machine that will be produced in the US.
Yes, they are breaking ground in June on the US plant, right next to the DTL facility in Davis. First machines being built will be horizontals. And they are called "ECO" dura machines from DMG China. Price is supposed to be a lot lower than the current Dura series, but we will have to wait to see how much. I wouldn't expect a 50K Mori any time soon.
