Milling with part chucked in both heads

I am trying to machine a part that is 12.75" long. I need to chuck the part in both the main and sub spindals to do some milling and turning. The problem i am having is being able to rotate the spindal to a set angle to do milling. It wont let me just use head one spindal to rotate to a fixed angle. is there a way to syncronize the spindals so they will rotate together the same direction to a set angle. the machine i am using is a mori seiki sl153y. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Mike

you need to issue the sync spindle G/M code.
it can depend on your specific control.

M303/M304 - MAIN/SUB spindle active for spindle control commands
M34 Dual synchronize spindles turning mode – Phase control C-axis chucks
M35 Dual synchronize spindles turning mode – RPM speed only
M36 Dual synchronize spindles turning mode – CANCEL

most likely....
M303
M34
will do it.

or something else. check your manual because Mori Seiki special G/M codes are usually different than Fanuc codes.

The other option is just unclamp 2nd chuck then rotate the part while it is being held by 1st chuck then clamp 2nd chuck.
i.e.
M69 (sub spindle unclamp or whatever your code is)
G00 C30.0
M68 (sub spindle clamp or whatever your code is)
