Never seen a lock pin on a SL25 spindle. Is this a live tool machine? Error code number? What control ?

    Does your machine has tailstock?
On those Models you have to align tailstock with Z axis in order to move.
But if Limit switch inside TS is not made detecting TS Clamp
perhaps the alarm you are having.
Or as you say if this system is on Spindle you must have a sensor to detect and you can make it (with piece of metal) and see if alarms resets.

Most likely a SL-25M machine with indexable C-axis. Try adjusting the grid shift value till lock pin seat.

Ok, so you have a very early SL25M. If you haven't got it by now, post back. It's just either the lock pin is not engaging all the way, or the prox switch is out. If it's not moving I would check in the prints. There is a Bestac relay card that controls the solenoid for the pin. That machine should have 3 of them, and they can be swapped around to diagnose. If the Bestac is bad, you can get replacement relays from Digi-Key if you are handy with soldering.
