Yaskawa 626MT spindle drive accel/deccel

Hello,

How can I change the accel/deccel for a 626MT2-7.5K spindle drive in a Mori SL-1A? Right now the spindle takes around 3-4 seconds to fully slow down or come up to speed. This is the case even if the spindle is only turning 3000rpm. My SL-1 with DC spindle motor will stop/start almost instantly regardless of rpm. I would like to adjust it so the ramp time is quicker by at least 1 second if possible.

Thanks

There are soft start and stop settings, but I would be careful fiddling with them,

Remember the spindle drive is the weak link on these machines and most costly
to replace, SL1-a has 6000 rpm spindle and the power band may be different than
your others hence a bit more time to ramp up to speed

If it were me, I would leave them set the way they are.

Although would not hurt to take a close look at the trim pots on the drive and see
if the seals have been broken

I have this problem with my SL-3 on an axis drive, somebody before I owned the machine
fiddled with the settings and the axis never has sounded correct

You would have to see if you have a braking resistor, if you have then it could be ajusted, if it does not have the external braking resistor, then you can not change it, or the drive will fault out

Thanks for the info guys. Guess I will leave it be. Probably use less power this way anyway.
